The Bell brothers commenced their hire industry careers in their early 20’s with a local independent. At a later stage, Paul made the transition to Able Hire. When the opportunity presented itself to buy the business, the brothers formed a partnership and mortgaged their homes to buy the company. The duo operated out of the Sutherland based Able Hire for 19 years during which time they acquired two other hire companies. Within a few years, with the work load ever expanding, the brothers decided to consolidate their businesses to focus on Able Hire. The move to the purpose built facility in Kirrawee was completed in 2006.
Able Hire boasts a vast range of extremely well maintained equipment ranging from BBQ equipment and bolt cutters to generators and compact excavators. The fleet of equipment is replaced approximately every two years to ensure that their customers receive access to the latest quality equipment and maximize their hiring dollar.
Heading their quality equipment line up is the Kubota range of compact excavators. Able hire service their customer excavation requirements with the Kubota K008-3 and the KX41-3. When asked as to why Able Hire chose Kubota, Paul stated, “We chose Kubota excavators for our business because we believe they are more reliable, easier to service and have better resale than other machines. They are also supported by an excellent Dealer Network. The 1 and 1.7 tonne machines gives operators the performance needed to get the job done in an efficient and economical manner. Powered by a Kubota liquid-cooled, three-cylinder diesel engines rated at 10.2 and 17 hp respectively, the operational performances produce wide working ranges for maximum productivity. Both the K008-3 and the KX41-3 can operate on sensitive surfaces without damaging the ground, keeping optimum mobility. Equipped with adjustable width track frame and blade, the compact Kubota’s smoothly manoeuvre in narrow openings. The track and blade can easily adjust without the requirement of tools. Importantly for Able Hire, maintenance is made easy on both models. The K008-3 even offers a fully open hood and the engine components and radiator have been re-arranged for easier access. Also, all lubrication points for front attachments are located on the right side, making routine lubrication more efficient.
